TPT and Etsy Shop

So something really cool about teaching at the college level is I get a lot of freedom picking which books I use with my students. The cornerstone of my teaching philosophy is bringing in as many brand new books in children's and young adult literature as possible. I focus on diverse voices, stories, and perspectives and try to give my preservice teachers a semester full of "windows, mirrors, and sliding glass doors" (Bishop, 1990).

That being said, as an adjunct professor and doctoral student I don't really have a budget to purchase class supplies. So I have built up own classroom library for the past few years with my own money.

My goal is provide new titles to my students every semester. I lend out ALL of my books constantly and my students use them for lessons and read alouds in our local schools with local students.

Selling a Canva daily gratitude journal printable that is completely editable on Etsy!

Soooooo.... shameless plug coming to you. I have set up Etsy and Teachers Pay Teachers shops to sell digital downloads to fund books for my students. It has been super fun this summer learning Canva and coming up with creative ideas for templates and products. I just created a Boho Rainbow classroom decor bundle and it was such a learning curve, but totally worth it (Canva is SO COOL, if you haven't used it yet, I highly recommend puttering around in their free version).

Tinkering around with fun Instagram post and stories templates too. The CreateTeachRead Etsy Shop is live!

Anyways, if you are looking to contribute some funds toward children's books for some lovely, beautiful, incredible college students, you might check out my shops and Instagram. Thanks!

Happy reading!

Who I Am

I am a former teacher and school librarian who worked in K-12 grade school libraries. I am currently a doctoral student and adjunct professor. I teach Children's Literature and literacy courses to preservice teachers. I love to share things that I love and find beautiful, from my favorite books to use in the classroom to teaching resources. I also share things that help my life: motherhood, style, home, and creativity. I hope you find something you love here!
