My favorite room to style is my little girl's room. She is five years old now and still loves most of what I first used to decorate her sweet space. We have replaced the crib with a big girl bed, but her room is still just as whimsical and cozy as it was when she was a baby. All of these items are in her room now. I went all out with romantic pieces like a felt rose garland over her windows and a bedding suited for a princess.

Pottery Barn Kids Organic Cotton Sheets are our favorite for the kids' beds. Twin size is affordable and the patterns are so classic. These ballerinas set the mood for her whole room with their whimsical flowers and soft colors.
I replaced the vintage Karastan rug in my daughter's room with a big, affordable washable rug from Rugs USA. And it was just in time because promptly after I put this rug down in her room the whole fam got Norovirus. I could not believe that instead of paying a fortune to have barf cleaned out of a vintage rug, I popped this entire rug into a giant washing machine at the Laundromat and it was perfect an hour later.
Replacing all of the manufacture grade overhead lighting (think: "boob lights" on every ceiling) in our home when we first moved in was soooo satisfying. (Odd because our house is a 1940s bungalow but someone along the way had replaced all the original overhead lights with cheap, generic Home Depot lights). The kids each got a light fixture that fits the theme and aesthetic of their room (look for my Friday Favorites Little Boy's Room for my son's giant flashlight chandelier!) This glass flushmount is from Cost Plus World Market and is a fraction of the price as the Pottery Barn Capiz light it imitates. I can't tell you how many compliments I get about it.
When I was first pregnant with my second I picked up this adorable swan head decor from Target. I didn't know if I was having a boy or a girl, I just thought it was adorable (spoiler alert, our second is a girl! Phew!). Target doesn't make this particular one anymore but this similar one from Amazon is just as sweet.
My husband thought our oldest child (a boy) needed a bigger dresser and the baby (a girl) could have his old, two-drawer one. Oh, how much he has to learn about women. This statement Ikea Hemnes dupe is big and has lots of room for all the girly clothes. And I love the gray color - so different from our normal white.
Added a touch of the unexpected in her room with these rabbit hooks from Anthropologie to tie back her curtains.
I didn't know if I was going to go gender neutral with my daughter's room or embrace the girly-girl. I did the latter. Flowers everywhere, including a fun felt flower garland over her window. The one I bought is from Etsy and the seller doesn't make them anymore, but this similar one is so close to the one we have.
Look for another Friday Favorite with what I would do now if I re-styled her room. Coming soon!
